Creating a batch of Bulk Orders is very similar to creating individual Orders, with three key differences.
- Instead of selecting individual Patients on the Enter Order Information screen, you are asked to select either an existing Patient Organization or to choose “No Patient Organization” and to enter in a number of Patient-less Orders to create.
- You cannot select medications or ask clinical questions while creating a Bulk Order batch.
- By default, Individual Orders created by internal users initialize with Status=Pending Report, meaning they are treated as received. Bulk Orders created through the BOP are default initialized as unreceived, so if this is the case they still have to be accessioned.
The rest of the steps - primarily around sample type, Test Profile, and Test selection - are the same as when you would create individual Orders. To learn more about individual Order creation, please refer to Dendi LIS Documentation - Order Creation.
When using a Patient Organization to create a batch of Bulk Orders, one Order will be created for each Patient (Figure 1). The alternate method is to create Bulk Orders with “No Patient Organization” (Figure 2); if this is chosen, you will have to specify the number of Orders to create.

After submitting the batch of Bulk Orders, you will be taken to the specific details page for that batch. Individual Orders will be created, and the details page will refresh once all Orders that are part of the batch are initialized.
