Overview
Control Sets are used to group one or more individual controls together for verification and review within the LIS.
*To verify control observations and QC runs, controls must first be assigned to a control set. Controls must be created prior to building a control set.
Creating a New Control Set
- Navigate to Quality Control > Control Sets.
- Select Add Control Set.
- Enter the following information:

Name
Enter a descriptive name for the control set

Alias (optional)
Enter an alternate or abbreviated name, if applicable.
- Add one or more controls to the control set:
- Use the Controls dropdown to select from controls that already exist in the system.
- Controls must be built prior to appearing in this list.
- Multiple controls may be added to a single control set, depending on workflow needs
- Select Save Control Set.
Once saved, the control set is available for QC review and verification.
Using a Control Set to Verify QC Runs
Control sets are used to verify incoming QC observations and results.
- Navigate to the desired Control Set.
- Review the Levey-Jennings chart, which displays incoming QC data associated with the controls in the set.
- Apply date filters as needed to view specific observation dates.

To verify a QC run:
a. Navigate to the QC Run Verification.
b. Choose Add Run QC.
c. Enter the Observation Start Date.
d. Select the appropriate Instrument.
e. Select Save Run.
f. Review the populated QC result:
- Confirm that the displayed result matches the value received from the instrument.
- Optionally, add comments or omit the run if necessary.
g. Select Save and Verify.
Once verified, the control set observation is saved and displays:
- Run date and time
- Verification date and time
- User who performed the verification
This confirms that the QC data has been reviewed and successfully verified within the LIS.
