The image below shows the accessioning page:
Generally speaking, accessioning is done using a general-purpose 1D barcode scanner, which is connected via USB to the computer or device that Dendi LIS is on.
Note: If the barcode scanner is not working properly, please make sure that the barcode scanner drivers are up-to-date and that it is connected properly. Generally speaking, higher-quality barcode scanners can scan barcodes more quickly and accurately.
Once the barcode scanner is connected, an Order or sample can then be accessioned by scanning in the barcode on the sample label or the requisition form. The user must click in the input field so that the mouse cursor is blinking before scanning.
If an Order needs to be created on the fly during the accessioning process, the “Create Order” button can be clicked to open a new tab and create an Order.
As can be seen in the below image, the user has the option to view Order details and update the Order itself before officially accessioning the Order. For example, a user can edit the Tests/Test Profiles that are on the Order. In some instances, the Order or sample(s) will not be accessioned.
When sample barcode labels are scanned in, the user has the option to individually accession that Order, as seen below. To accession, the sample, press the “Receive Sample” button. An Order is considered fully accessioned when all samples are accessioned.
The entire Order itself can be accessioned as well by clicking the “Receive Order” button at the top.
Note: Orders can also be archived from the accessioning page. To archive an Order, click on the red button after scanning in an Order, then confirm your intent to archive.
As with most parts of Dendi LIS, the accessioning page allows for internal comments to be made. To add a comment, type the comment and press the “+ Comment” button.
Once an Order is fully accessioned & marked as received, the turnaround time clock starts, and testing can be performed on samples.
