Clinical Questions, also known as Ask on Order Entry (AOE) Questions, can be created & managed by users in the system with appropriate permissions (Tests=Manage). Dendi currently supports the following types of Clinical Questions:
- Short Entry - answered enters freeform text
- Multiple Choice: Select One - answerer chooses one answer from a list
- Multiple Choice: Select Many - answerer chooses one or more answers from a list
From the main Clinical Questions page, you can view & manage already-created questions or create new Clinical Questions.
When creating a question, you must specify the type of question - short entry or one of the two multiple-choice options. If you choose either “Multiple Choice: Select One” or “Multiple Choice: Select Many”, at least two answer choices must be provided, and there is a 24-character limit for each answer choice. Both short-entry and multiple-choice questions can also be marked as optional.
Clinical Questions must be associated with at least one Test Profile. Based on the Test Profiles selected by users when creating Orders, the associated Clinical Questions will be asked.
Optional fields for Alternate ID, LOINC Code, and Sequence can be filled in. The sequence in particular is used to control the order in which Clinical Questions show up in various places, such as the Order creation process.
