The Orders: Create Manual workflow follows the same steps as the regular Orders: Create workflow, with the distinction that almost all fields are optional in the manual workflow. Due to the additional digital guardrails being present in the main Orders: Create workflow, it is recommended to use that over the manual workflow whenever possible.
The main use case for the manual workflow is for when you receive a paper requisition from a Provider that contains incomplete (little to no) information. The manual workflow can allow you to capture as much information as was given to you initially to create a ‘placeholder’ Order, and then you can go back and fill in the rest as necessary after contacting the Provider.
Note: Orders cannot be reported without certain mandatory information being present, such as Patient name, date of birth, Account, etc.
